The only coilover conversion for the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 and 4 door that addresses these important factors:
  • Performance
  • Ease of install
  • Reliability
  • Customization

Why Bolt On?
When our RECON system first came out, it went up against a very popular weld-on system offered by our competition. However, it addressed many concerns the weld on system didn't.

Time to install: RECON can be installed in one day, by anyone. Don't have a welder? Don't have access to an installation bay? Don't have years of suspension experience? Not a problem with our system. If you can drill, line up bolt holes, and turn a wrench, you are 100% capable of installing coilovers on your Jeep JK.

Reliability: Because our bracket system has zero moving parts, there are no joints or hinges that can wear over time and fail.

Performance: Our RECON coilover conversion gives your Jeep JK both unrivaled on road performance and off road stability and articulation. Everything from daily driven Jeeps on 35" tires to wild builds with 44" mud bogger tires each benefit from converting to coilovers.

Customization: Because the brackets do not have to endure heat from welding, your brackets can be custom powdercoated to retain a color scheme you may have already started with your build. This is very important to more customers than many think.

But - it's bolts...
Correct - and nothing against welding. In fact, every single one of our brackets can be welded on if you so wish. Let's also look at what else is bolted on your Jeep: wheels, brakes, drive shafts, engine, seats, power steering box, etc etc etc. With the proper torque spec, bolting suspension components on is perfectly safe.

What does bolt on gain me?
Several important factors. Installation is much less time consuming, allowing for same day installation. Bolt on allows you to carry the system with you. You can return a Jeep back to its original configuration prior to sale, and reinstall the coilover kit on your next JK. A great option for leased or rolled/damaged vehicles.

You put the rear coilovers where?
Yep, sticking out back, just begging to be beaten up... or are they? Coilover springs are resilient. We've ran our R&D Jeep JK with the original springs installed since day 1. They were powdercoated orange prior to install, and its still the original powdercoat. Our shop JK, more importantly its coilover springs, have survived all the trails in Moab, the Rubicon trail, the Hammers trails, etc etc etc. Only damage so far? A few chips on the exposed side of the spring. The coilovers still work perfectly, have never leaked, and only have minor rashing.

Rear Coilovers Inside the Frame Rails?
Yep, and we tried outboard. Hard part is the width of the wheel base and the frame rails relative to mounting. However, the performance we've seen, and our customers get, from our RECON rear conversion told us that we didn't need to research further moving the coilovers outboard.

What Control Arms Work?
Stock control arms, short adjustable control arms, mid arm systems, and long arm systems are all compatible. Upgrade your suspension around our conversion with no fear of outgrowing our kit!

Why 12" Coilovers Up Front?
At a certain point, articulation is limited by the vehicle. Travel is maximized by our coilover system for both up and down tire movement. Front droop and compression are SAFEST with a 12" coilover. The Jeep Wrangler's front driveshaft is actually the limiting factor. We set our front coilover mounts at the perfect height to balance travel and prevent contact between the front driveshaft and exhaust piping.

Front Hydraulic Bumpstops?
The addition of hydraulic bump stops enables the vehicle to absorb impacts in a controlled manner without the jarring effect of a rubber or polymer based bump stop. Hydraulic bump stops also control unwanted body roll and dipping when you to traverse a side hill. The front upper hydraulic bump stop mount is a direct bolt on application and utilizes the same three mounting holes and hardware as the front coil over hoop. The brackets are recessed inside the factory coil-spring bucket.

This design is inherently strong as this is where the factory coil-spring is located. (The coil-spring mounts hold the entire weight of the vehicle.) The bump stop follows the same trajectory as the front coil overs. This allows both the bump-stop and the coil over to work in unison and for full energy absorption.

The hydraulic bump stop contact area on the axle is the factory coil-spring / bump stop locating bracket. The upper mounts are angled to allow for correct contact and full energy absorption between the bump stop and the lower axle mounted bump pad when the vehicle is articulated and the suspension is cycled.

Those Rear Lower Control Arm Mounts Look Like Skids...
They are! Our RECON rear lower coilover mounts also double as control arm skids. Why Not Relocate the Mount Up? Say, 1.5". Consider what moving the shock/coilover up does. If installing a shock, but moving one of it's mounting points, your vehicle will overflex/overarticulate that shock and cause it damage. That 1.5" of clearance has now cost you a shock. Instead, leave it in it's OEM location, but add a skid plate like the one included in our lover coilover mount.

What's My New Ride Height?
Our King Spec coilovers are adjustable from a 3.5" lift to an 8" lift on your Jeep JK. 99% of the JKs that run our RECON conversion utilize a 4-4.5" lift.

How Are RECON Spec Kings Coilovers Different?
We sat down with King years ago during R&D of our conversion and discussed the very specific needs of a Jeep JK versus a race buggy. Jeep's need to have both extremely "street-wise" road manners as well as off road stability, performance, and ride quality. Only our proprietary valved King coilovers meet that criteria.

Spring Rate?
Every Jeep on the road is different. No two front or rear ends weigh the same. Front and rear bumpers, winches, spare tires, engine swaps all factor into the weight distribution of your Jeep. After ordering your system online or during the process on the phone, we'll discuss your Jeeps modifications and send you coilovers with the proper springs already installed.

I Just Don't Want to Use Kings
King knows coilovers. However, if you have another brand in mind, please spec them accordingly: Raised plates 90-degree fittings.
We invite anyone to ride in a JK with our RECON coilover conversion. On road and off road handling are unmatched. It's a smoother, safer, and smarter ride all around. your valuable coil overs, conversion brackets, and hardware.
