Description
Aftermarket long-arm rear suspensions on the Jeep Wrangler JLU often reposition the rear lower control arm mounting brackets on the frame, which can interfere with traditional weld-on frame-mounted rocker guards. The Motobilt MB1258 Frame Mounted Rocker Guards for Long Travel Suspensions are specifically engineered to solve this issue while delivering the same extreme protection Motobilt is known for.
Built to handle anything the trail throws at them, these rocker guards are welded directly to the frame, creating a true structural barrier between your Jeep’s body and trail obstacles. Unlike body-mounted rocker protection, impacts are transferred directly into the frame instead of the body or body mounts—dramatically reducing the risk of sheet metal damage. They’re strong enough to be used as a jack point, providing added confidence during trail repairs or recoveries.
The frame mounts are constructed from 3/16-inch thick laser-cut steel plate, CNC-formed into boxed structures that maximize strength and load distribution while accommodating long-arm suspension geometry. This boxed design provides four times the surface area at the frame and three times the surface area at the slider connection compared to tube-and-gusset mounts, resulting in exceptional durability under hard impacts.
The slider portion is built from 2-inch DOM steel tubing, with end caps and center bracing fabricated from the same heavy-duty 3/16-inch formed steel as the mounts. Each set ships fully welded in bare steel, ready for final positioning, welding, and finishing.
Installation requires welding and painting. If powder coating is desired, test fitting is strongly recommended prior to finishing to reduce the risk of damage. Powder coat must be removed from weld areas before installation, and those areas should be painted after welding.
If you plan to run extreme trails with a long-arm-equipped JLU, proper body protection is critical—these frame-mounted rock rails are a must-have upgrade.
