Recon JL/JT Coilover Kit Install Guide
JEEP WRANGLER 2018+ JL/JT RECON KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: FRONT RECON KIT
- DISCONNECT SWAYBAR, TRACKBAR, AXLE BREATHER TUBE, LOCKER LINE, BRAKE LINE BRACKETS—ANYTHING THAT MAY BIND OR PREVENT THE AXLE FROM BEING FULLY LOWERED.
- DISCONNECT FRONT DRIVE SHAFT FROM DIFFERENTIAL AND HANG OUT OF THE WAY.
- RAISE BODY/LOWER AXLE.
- REMOVE SHOCKS AND SPRINGS.
- REMOVE OR TRIM INNER FENDER PLASTICS.
- CUT OUT FACTORY BUMPSTOP FROM TOP OF SPRING PERCH AND GRIND SMOOTH; RUST PROOF.
- USE FACTORY BOLT TO HAMMER OUT CAPTURE NUT ON UPPER SHOCK MOUNT. (FACTORY BOLT CAN BE USED, BUT RECOMMEND SWITCH TO GRADE 8)
- SET RECON HOOP AND MARK HOLES ON TOP OF UPPER SPRING PERCH; DRILL/REAM TO 7/16”.
- INSTALL BUMPSTOP INTO RECON BUMPSTOP HOUSING.
- SANDWICH FACTORY SPRING PERCH BETWEEN RECON HOOP AND BUMPSTOP HOUSING; BOLT TOGETHER. –UPPER FRONT INSTALLATION COMPLETE.
- BOLT ON LOWER SHOCK BRACKETS USING SUPPLIED HARDWARE BAG—IF BRACKETS ARE POWDER COATED, HOLES MAY NEED TO BE REAMED. (LEAVE LOOSE UNTIL COILOVER IS IN PLACE)
- INSTALL COILOVERS.
- RECONNECT EVERYTHING FROM STEP 1 AND REROUTE LINES AS NECESSARY.
- LOWER VEHICLE AND RETORQUE ALL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS.
JEEP WRANGLER 2018 + JL RECON KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: REAR KIT ( THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL NOT WORK FOR JEEP GLADIATOR REAR KING SHOCK KIT )
- DISCONNECT SWAYBAR, TRACKBAR, AXLE BREATHER TUBE, LOCKER LINE, PARKING BRAKE FROM ROTOR BACK PLATES—ANYTHING THAT MAY BIND OR PREVENT THE AXLE FROM BEING FULLY LOWERED.
- RAISE BODY/LOWER AXLE.
- DISCONNECT AND REMOVE SHOCKS AND SPRINGS.
- CUT OFF FACTORY SWAYBAR MOUNTING TABS AND SHOCK MOUNTS FROM THE AXLE, GRIND SMOOTH.
- CUT AWAY EXCESS MATERIAL ON LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKET TO JUST BELOW CONTROL ARM JOINT (DOWN 1-3/4” FROM CENTER OF BOLT) AND GRIND SMOOTH.
- RUST PROOF ANY BARE METAL.
- MOUNT LOWER SHOCK BRACKET/SKID. BOLT ON, BUT DON’T TIGHTEN UNTIL VEHICLE IS ON THE GROUND. (IF YOUR BRACKETS HAVE BEEN COATED, IT MAY BE HELPFUL TO REAM BOLT HOLES)
- REMOVE OR TRIM INNER FENDER PLASTIC AND BRACKETRY.
- MOUNT UPPER SHOCK BRACKET—MARK AND DRILL 2 REAR HOLES ON REAR BODY MOUNT.
- INSTALL COILOVERS.
- RECONNECT EVERYTHING FROM STEP 1 AND REROUTE LINES AS NECESSARY.
- LOWER VEHICLE AND RETORQUE ALL REAR SUSPENSION COMPONENTS.
