Description
Billy Rocker Frame-Mount Rock Sliders for Jeep Wrangler JLU (4-Door)
When you build a Jeep Wrangler JLU for real trails, rock sliders are not an accessory. They are armor. The Billy Rocker was engineered from the ground up to be a true frame-mounted rock slider system that protects your Jeep’s body, rocker panels, and B-pillar from serious off-road abuse.
Why We Redesigned the JLU Rocker System
Our earlier 3-piece body-mount rocker design proved itself for years on TJ and JK platforms, even surviving coast-to-coast trail punishment and competition-level use. But the Jeep Wrangler JLU is built differently. After extensive trail testing in Colorado, including Independence Trail and Carnage Canyon, we discovered that the JLU’s rocker structure lacked the internal support found in previous generations.
That meant one thing: even the strongest body-mounted slider would not fully protect the tub under extreme rock crawling conditions.
So we went back to the drawing board.
Frame-Mounted Strength with Hybrid Construction
To deliver real protection, we developed a frame-mount rock slider system for the Jeep JLU while keeping the signature Billy Rocker design and function intact.
The result is a hybrid steel and aluminum space-frame design featuring:
-
High-strength steel frame mounting structure
-
Lightweight aluminum tie plate
-
Durable aluminum outer skin
-
Optimal balance of strength and weight savings
Originally built entirely from steel, the first prototype was incredibly strong but heavy. Through engineering refinements, we replaced the tie plate with aluminum, reducing over 20 pounds per side without sacrificing structural integrity. That means more than 40 pounds of total weight savings while maintaining the durability required for extreme rock crawling.
Real-World Trail Tested
We do not rely on theory. Every Billy Rocker system is proven in real-world conditions.
This frame-mounted JLU rock slider system has been tested on:
-
Colorado rock trails
-
The Rubicon Trail in California
-
Moab’s technical terrain
After full trail days in some of the most demanding off-road environments in the country, the Billy Rocker protected the Jeep’s body exactly as intended. No pushed-in pillars. No crushed rocker panels. Just clean body lines at the end of the trail.
Smart Mounting Design
The Billy Rocker mounts directly to:
-
The transmission skid plate crossmember
-
Factory body mount studs
-
Frame mounting points using nutserts
We intentionally avoided removal of factory body bolts to eliminate common installation issues seen across the industry.
Once positioned, the rocker supports itself for easy marking and drilling. After installing the 3/8”-16 nutserts into the frame, the sliders bolt on securely. For extreme rock crawling applications, optional 1-inch welds can be added to the frame plates for additional reinforcement. All product testing was completed using bolt-on installation only, so welding is optional, not required.
Titan Tub Armor Optional
With the move to a frame-mounted Jeep JLU rock slider system, Titan Tub Armor is now optional rather than required. This eliminates unnecessary drilling into the side of your Jeep while still offering additional protection for those who want it.
